A recap and review of nail polish brands I have tried

Good Experience

  1.  Canmake - Good and dries fast, will buy again. However not accessible in Malaysia ; A ;.
  2. OPI- good and dries fast, but they don't have much special colours, usually only cremes are popular and easier to find on shopee and carousel
  3. H&M- makes both creme and occasionally special polish, I love the brush head, is flat wide and round edge. It's one of my favourite formula at the moment.
  4. Catrice- Surprising, although it's from the same company as Essence it has wider range of polish and more fun choice, and DRIES FASTER, which is sooo important for a nail polish lover. I mean, I can wait for polish to dry in 30 mins but not like 2 hrs. However it seems like Guardian in Malaysia is slowly not carrying the brand polish much nor see any new collection coming in, which is sad.
  5. PA Nails- Another japanese brand that used to seen at SHINS. I love how it's small and mini, so you don't feel pressure to finish up a big bottle of nail polish. Has a nice wide square brush too. Too bad slowly not seeing this brand much anymore.
  6. Essie- Good and dries fast, will buy again. However not accessible in Malaysia ; A ;. Has some interesting colour
  7. Picture Polish- A brand from Australia, could say all the shades I have bought from them are all my favourites. From jelly, creme, holo and duochrome. Definitely want to try more from them.
  8. Scout Polish- A very vegan, organic-ish brand from New Zealand. They have a very nice scent, dries fast and stays well. It's also one of my favourite brand of nail polish. But they seems to be an extremely small company.
  9. Ciate- I love their minis, dries averagely fast, has a nice wide brush.
  10. Revlon- Another fav brand I like, it's easy to paint and watery enough. But I prefer it's wide brush.

Average Experience (may give second chance)

  1. China Glaze- This brand has some good and interesting colours, while I had found a favourite polish from this brand. But I had a red polish from it that stains my nail badly and weirdly it has small clumps in it and last when I was trying to use, it was totally clump and dry up, I was so confused when it's not even my oldest polish. Anyhow, I won't be able to try this brand anymore as it's unavailable in Malaysia.
  2. Butter London- It comes in 2 types I think, one with silver cap and black cap. The black cap ones aren't so good in my experience, it dries slower and the brush is too small to my liking. While the silver cap cremes are very good and has a wider brush and rich colours. Butter London is one of the few brands I tried when I get into nail polish. If I would to buy again, it had to be the silver cap and wide brush.
  3. Orly- It carries some interesting shades, but i only have tried their glitter lol of their older packaging and formula. Not a big fan of their glitter.
  4. Nars- A bit so so, bought for a long time but haven't use much cuz the colours don't suit me well.
  5. Kester Black- It's ' alright' but nothing  OPI can't do... yea. Their colours tend to be a bit more like nudish saturated, not my type. So I have been re-colouring the polish by mixing here and there.

Bad Experience aka will not buy again

  1. Innisfree- Initially it was an ok experience, but after trying more and better polishes. I start to realize how slow innisfree's dries down. Even after it dries down it's easily "scratch" or "dent" if you press with your nails. The texture is more on the gloopy and thick side as well, which is why it is hard to dry I guess. It has a good brush tho.
  2. Essence- It has the similar issue with innisfree's. Dries too slow, get damage easy even after dries and chips off rather easy. So I usually use on my toe nails so I don't get to observe too clearly how it's damaged. The texture is more on the thicker side too. It has a good brush tho.

Brands that I want to try or still trying out

  1. Ducato
  2. Biwi
  3. Thermal polish
  4. magnetic polish
  5. romand
  6. nail holic
  7. halotaco!!!

My beauty spending habits recap

Intro

For the last few years, since getting into the rabbit hole of beauty in 2014, I have been purchasing makeup non stop, for blusher I managed to get hold myself after around 2019, where I was able to try various brand of blush, various colours and finally realize that I only use that very few of colours and also able to find out what colour and formula I prefer.

Lip

As for lip products, after spending so much on colourpop liquid lip hype, liquid lipstick is something I will most likely won't purchase again since I prefer something more moisturizing. My recent favourites are normal loreal and maybelline bullet lipstick, they are not too matte and smooth. Japanese moisturizing lipstick are my favourite too. other reason I prefer bullet lipstick is because they can be kept longer and more sanitize in my opinion.

Bronzer and contour

Bronzer and contour on the end, only very very rare occasion will be buying one to try out, the latest would be too cool for school contour, which I did hit pan too, showing my concentration of it.

Eyeshadow

Eyeshadow wise, I think lately I'm only buying for the packaging. The colours I think I really have collecting all what I need, that I meant by all sort of colours. and have tried enough glittery colours, from Asian to Europe brand. And actually I'm quite into japanese style eyeshadow. So glittery eyeshadow has come to a halt now too. I'm really into hit pan my eyeshadow, sometimes I even so used to the shadows I hit pan that I don't want to switch them out and giving my love to other shadows.

Mascara

Never a problem, I only need one and only a good waterproof mascara.

Eyebrow

Used to be slightly obsess, but now I realize a good dark eyeshadow does the job just well

Eyeliner

I had three liquid eyeliner now, brown , black and a reddish brown. Not too happy with the brown one because it's not super waterproof, everytime I yawn, my tear will melt it and the eyeliner is gone. But usually I love the brown colour more because it's more subtle and natural.

Nail Polish

It's something that won't go expire and has a lot more expression of it on doing nail art that won't feel overwhelm. Has harder access to it. Has more variety and brand to try! Something that pluck my heart strings now and then.

So I think I need to make record of the nail polishes that I bought over the years. Although I have been able to cool down my purchases but once in a while I think I still brought like a bit too much. Not to mention, some colour look terrible on me.
